German Society for Paediatric Cardiology

The German Society of Paediatric Cardiology  represents the oldest subspecialty of paediatrics. The Society emerged in 1973 from the "Association for Paediatric Cardiology" which was founded in October 1969. Founding fathers were Prof. Dr. J. Stoermer (Essen) and Prof. Dr. H. W. Rautenburg (Gießen). The DGPK is a non-profit medical society with the aim of promoting science, diagnosis, therapy and prevention of congenital and acquired cardiac and cardiovascular disease in childhood and adolescence. Since 2016, the annual meeting takes place at the same time and in the same venue as the Conference of the German Society for Thoracic, Cardiac and Vascular Surgery (DGTHG), and has since then been organised by Interplan.
